Apatura gets green light for 25MW UK BESS project

July 1, 2024

Edinburgh-headquartered energy storage developer Apatura has received planning approval by Clackmannanshire Council for the 25MW Devonside BESS project in Scotland.

It follows the granting of planning approval for two other Scottish projects last year – the Elgin 30MW BESS and the Saltcoats 30 MW BESS.

Apatura chief development officer Andrew Philpott said: “Our significant pipeline of BESS projects ensures that Apatura has a key role to play in providing vital grid balancing services and a more resilient electricity network.   We are expecting a large proportion of our Scotland projects to receive planning permission in the coming months, which will assist with achieving the aims and ambitions of the Beyond 2030 report, set out by the National Grid’s Electricity System Operator.”
