Asian investor Seraya raises $800m for first fund

Asian private equity investor Seraya Partners has raised an $800m fund to invest in companies focused on the energy transition, including renewable energy generation.

Seraya Partners Fund I is set to invest in companies focused on Asia. Its backers include Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Alberta Investment Management Company, and funds and accounts managed by BlackRock.

Seraya said that 50% of the fund was already allocated to three platforms: green data centre operator Empyrion DC; offshore wind farm vessel operator Cyan Renewables; and Astrid Renew, which works with corporates and utilities to reduce emissions.
