BOEM backs 2.8GW Atlantic Shores pair

EDF and Shell New Energies have received environmental approval for their 2.8GW Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind 1 and 2 projects off the coast of New Jersey.

The companies are developing the duo in their Atlantic Shores joint venture. The projects are jointly known as the Atlantic Shores South Wind Project, and are set to be made up of a total of 200 wind turbines with up to ten offshore substations.

The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management announced the publication of the final environmental impact statements for the pair yesterday (23rd May). Elizabeth Klein, director at BOEM, said: “Completing this environmental analysis is a significant milestone in the administration’s drive to realize clean energy ambitions that will enhance the lives of Americans now and for generations to come.”
