Brookfield and Axis Energy joint venture Evren has ordered Suzlon turbines totalling 642MW for an onshore wind project in Andhra Pradesh, India.
Suzlon has committed to supply and install the turbines, and then carry out operations and maintenance work after completion. The companies have not revealed further details of the development.
Jayarama Prasad Chalasani, chief executive at Suzlon, said: “Andhra Pradesh is a key state for us to unlock India’s true wind energy potential and we are delighted that the electricity generated from this project in Andhra Pradesh will be used to power the millions of homes in the country with clean, green, renewable power. We look forward to a long and fruitful association with Evren.”
Suman Kumar, chief executive at Evren, added that the company was looking forward to working with Suzlon on this and future projects. Brookfield and Axis Energy have launched their Evren development platform in India, and are looking to build more than 6GW of renewable energy assets by 2027.
