China’s SPIC invests $147.4m in Brazilian wind farms

China’s State Power Investment Corporation is investing $147.4m to support the construction of two wind farms in northeast Brazil.

The two wind farms in Rio Grande do Norte are due to have combined capacity of 105.4MW and SPIC said the investments would support its growth in the Latin American country. Construction is scheduled to start in January 2025 and commissioning is due in 2026.

SPIC has also invested in solar projects totalling 738MW in Brazilian states Piaui and Ceara, which have been inaugurated this week.
