Clearway secures $261m for Texas repowering project

Clearway Energy has secured $261m funding from a consortium of banks for the 160MW repowering of its Cedro Hill wind farm in Webb County, Texas.

Clearway has closed financing and started construction at Cedro Hill to grow its headline capacity from 150MW to 160MW. The company has raised $261m in construction, term loan and letter of credit facilities from a consortium including Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Deutsche Zentral-Genossenschaftsbank, DNB Markets and National Australia Bank.

Chris Fox, senior vice president of construction at Clearway Energy Group, said: “Our Cedro Hill repowering is our most recent example of how Clearway is upgrading its sizeable existing fleet to deploy resilient, state-of-the-art technology on sites that have proven, high-quality wind resources… As a long-term owner and operator, we are pleased that repowerings like Cedro Hill deliver decades of more value for our local landowners and communities.”
