Cubico to double Queensland wind farm to 500MW

Cubico Sustainable Investments and Stanwell Corporation have committed to double the headline capacity of the Wambo wind project in Queensland, Australia, to over 500MW.

The companies are already building the 252MW first stage, which is due to complete in 2025, and have now committed to add 41 more turbines totalling 254.2MW in the project’s second stage. This means the project is set to have headline capacity of 506.2MW when fully commissioned in 2026.

David Smith, Cubico’s country manager for Australia, said: “As Australia’s energy transition accelerates, we are proud of our leading role enabling Queensland to achieve its ambitious renewables goals.
