July 3, 2024

EDF and Shell have won approval from the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management for their 2.8GW Atlantic Shores South offshore wind complex off the coast of New Jersey.

Atlantic Shores South is set to be made up of two schemes: Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Project 1 and 2. The schemes are set to be made up of 195 turbines and up to ten offshore wind substations.

This is the ninth offshore wind project to secure BOEM approval since President Biden’s inauguration in January 2021. Deb Haaland, US Secretary of the Interior, said: “The Biden-Harris administration is building momentum every day for our clean energy future, and today’s milestone is yet another step toward our ambitious goal of deploying 30GW of offshore energy by 2030.”
