EDF mulls partial exit from 1.5GW India arm

French utility EDF Renewables is mulling a partial exit from its Indian subsidiary, which has 1.5GW of renewable energy assets in operation and development.

India’s Economic Times reported that the firm has hired Rothschild to run a sales process for a stake of between 50% and 70%, which could value the operational assets at around $400m. EDF Renewables India has 530MW of wind and solar projects in operation, and a further 1GW of schemes in development.

The company is reportedly considering the disposal to reduce its debt.
