EDF picks Nordex for 295MW South African pair

EDF Renewables has ordered Nordex turbines for the 295MW Korosun 2 complex in South Africa’s Eastern and Western Cape regions.

The complex is made up of two wind farms, called Hartebeesthoek and Umsobomvu, each of which is set to be made up of 25 turbines totalling 147.5MW. Construction has started on the pair and they are due to be commissioned in 2026.

Patxi Landa, chief sales officer at Nordex, said: “We are proud to support EDF Renewables and the expansion of wind energy in South Africa, with our N163 turbines and in so doing, contribute to reducing the country’s dependence on coal.”
