Enery signs PPA with brewing firm Asahi

Austrian utility Enery has signed a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement to supply electricity to the Hungarian arm of Japanese brewer Asahi.

The company is set to begin supplying 14GWh of power annually to Dreher Sörgyárak Zrt., which is a subsidiary of Asahi Europe & International. Enery said the deal would supply the development of renewable energy assets in central and eastern Europe.

Paolo Lanzarotti, chief executive of Asahi Europe, said: “This latest agreement for Hungary marks another important step forward and a significant commitment towards our Legacy 2030 goal of becoming carbon neutral in all our breweries by 2030.”

Severin Vartigov, chief commercial officer at Enery, highlighted that this was the second PPA between the companies: “By providing reliable and affordable renewable electricity, we aim to drive positive change in the CEE region, furthering our mission to transition towards a more sustainable energy landscape,” he said.
