Engie signed 2.4GW corporate PPAs in 2023

French giant Engie was the biggest seller of wind and solar power to corporations through power purchase agreements in 2023 with deals totalling 2.4GW, BloombergNEF has reported.

BNEF reported that Engie was also the only major developer to secure corporate PPAs for onshore wind, offshore wind and solar power in 2023. It was followed by AES (1.9GW), Tata Power (1.2GW), Lightsource BP (1GW) and Eneco (900MW).

The largest corporate buyer of renewable power in 2023 was Amazon, which agreed 5.6GW of solar and 3.1GW of wind deals across 16 countries. This is the fourth consecutive year that Amazon was the largest off-taker of renewable power.

It was followed by Facebook owner Meta (3GW), chemicals firm LyondellBasell (1.3GW), Google (996MW) and Tata Steel (966MW), with Air Liquide, Albras, Albert Heijn, Microsoft and Orange also among the top ten buyers.
