Equinor and Polenergia place 1.44GW Siemens Gamesa order

Equinor and Polenergia have placed a firm order to use Siemens Gamesa turbines at their 1.44GW Baltic 2 and 3 offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea.

Siemens Gamesa is set to supply its 14.4MW machines for the two projects, which are due to be commissioned in 2027. The company is also turbine supplier for the 1.56GW Baltic 1, which is being developed by Equinor and Polenergia.

Michał Jerzy Kołodziejczyk, country manager of Equinor in Poland, said: “We want to bring the best available renewables technologies to the Polish market, building a modern offshore wind power sector. Our goal is to provide Poland with clean energy from renewable sources based on the leading, most efficient solutions.”

Michal Michalski, chief executive at Polenergia, said: “The finalisation of contracts for the production and delivery of offshore wind turbines are crucial for the development of our projects in the Baltic Sea and represents a very important step in the development of the entire offshore wind energy sector in Poland.”
