EU approves plan to boost hydrogen market

The European Parliament has adopted plans that it said would support the rollout of renewable and low-carbon gases in the European Union.

Members of the European Parliament yesterday backed a directive that aims to decarbonise the EU’s gas market and improve its resilience. The directive includes measures to enhance the production and integration of renewable gases and hydrogen in the EU energy mix, which MEPs said would support investment in hydrogen infrastructure projects.

It also enables EU member states to limit imports of gas from Russia and Belarus.
