General Atlantic buys infrastructure investor Actis

Private equity company General Atlantic has bought sustainable infrastructure investor Actis, which has $12.5bn of assets under management.

Actis is set to become the sustainable infrastructure arm of General Atlantic’s global investment platform; and will continue to be led by chairman and senior partner Torbjorn Caesar. The deal will grow General Atlantic’s total assets under management to $96bn.

Bill Ford, chairman and chief executive Officer of General Atlantic, said: “With the addition of Actis, we are taking a significant step forward to add a sustainable investment capability which positions General Atlantic to capture this opportunity set for our investors.”

Michael Harrington, chief investment officer of Actis, said: “This partnership has the potential to enhance our offering through our combined expertise, networks, and geographical scope.”
