Google has signed deals totalling 478MW to buy electricity from two offshore wind farms developed by Shell and Eneco in the Dutch North Sea.
The tech giant has agreed power purchase agreements with the utilities’ CrossWind and Ecowende joint ventures. CrossWind is developing the 780MW Hollandse Kust Noord project, which started production in early 2023, while Ecowende is developing the 759MW Hollandse Kust West project, which is due to be commissioned in 2026.
Google announced the 478MW deals today as it revealed renewable energy PPAs totalling 700MW in Europe. This also includes two solar PPAs totalling 106MW in Poland with GoldenPeaks Capital; an 84MW PPA with Aspiravi and Luminus in Belgium to support 11 wind farms totalling 84MW; and a 47MW onshore wind PPA with ERG in Italy.
