Madrid-headquartered Grenergy has signed a hybrid power purchase agreement to supply 8TWh of green energy – from “the world’s largest storage project” in Chile – for 15 years to an “international utility”.
The green energy will come from the fourth phase of the Chilean Oasis de Atacama project, which will have solar generation capacity of 260MW and up to 1,100 MWh of storage. In total, the project will have 4.1 GWh of storage capacity and close to 1GW of solar.
The energy will start being supplied in the second quarter of 2026, though the plant is expected to begin operation in 2025.
Grenergy will invest up to $1.4 billion in the Oasis de Atacama project and, with this agreement, accounts for 75 per cent of its energy under PPAs.
