Hydro-Québec backs eight in 1.55GW wind drive

Canadian utility Hydro-Québec has backed eight wind projects totalling 1.55GW by developers including Boralex and Innergex in its latest onshore wind tender.

Hydro-Québec launched a tender for onshore wind projects on 31st March 2023, and has now picked eight winners, of which six will be developed in collaboration with indigenous groups. The winning projects are:

  • Arthabaska (265.2MW) by Boralex
  • Broughton (150MW) by Pattern Energy
  • Les Jardins (147MW) by Kruger Energy
  • Manicouagan (300MW) by Innergex
  • Monnoir (100MW) by Boralex
  • MRC Lotbinière (100MW) by Innergex
  • Pohénégamook – Picard – Saint-Antonin – Wolastokuk 2 (291.4MW) by Invenergy
  • Saint-Paul-de-Montminy (196MW) by Kruger Energy

The projects are due to be commissioned between 1st December 2027 and 1st December 2029.
