Logistics group DHL has signed a power purchase agreement to buy electricity from RWE’s 342MW Kaskasi offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

The 10-year PPA is due to take effect in 2026 and cover around 19% of DHL’s annual electricity use in Germany.

Hendrik Niebaum, head of commodity solutions at RWE Supply & Trading, said: “This partnership shows how RWE’s energy solutions can contribute to climate protection in all sectors of the economy. In addition, long-term contracts like this offer security and predictability for both parties.”

Anna Spinelli, chief procurement officer at DHL Group, said: “The contract with RWE is another important step on our path towards net-zero-emission logistics by 2050.
