Marubeni & ACEN Australia to jointly develop 200MW battery

March 5, 2024

Marubeni Corporation subsidiary Marubeni Asian Power Singapore has entered into a cooperation agreement with ACEN Australia for the joint development of a 200MW battery storage project at an unnamed location in New South Wales, Australia.

The agreement means that Marubeni will “assess the opportunity of investment in the project” and SmartestEnergy Australia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marubeni that operates an electricity wholesale and retail business, will explore the possibility of off-taking electricity charged from the project’s battery storage system, a statement said.

It added: “Marubeni, through the joint development of the project, aims to strengthen its relationship with the Ayala Group and looks forward to collaboratively promoting sustainable energy solutions, stable supply of power, and energy transition in Australia.”
