NextEra signs PPA at 200MW Bronco Plains 2

April 16, 2024

NextEra Energy Resources has agreed to sell all of the power from its 200MW Bronco Plains 2 wind farm in Colorado to Guzman Energy and Holy Cross Energy.

The pair have signed a power purchase agreement to buy all of the electricity produced by the 72-turbine scheme, which was developed by NextEra. During the summer, each will buy half of the project’s output while, in the winter, Holy Cross will buy three quarters of the output and Guzman one quarter.

Robin Lunt, chief commercial officer at Guzman, said: “The addition of energy generated by Bronco Plains 2 Energy Center to the Guzman power supply portfolio is a valuable contributor to providing our wholesale customers with price certainty as well as the option to source clean, renewable energy.”

Sam Whelan, vice president of finance at Holy Cross, said: “This partnership allowed us to provide additional low-cost renewable energy to the communities we serve, helping us to meet our clean energy goals.”
