Norway backs floating wind in Arctic Circle

The Norwegian government has agreed to provide €175m of state backing for the 75MW GoliatVind floating wind farm in the Arctic Circle.

Source Galileo, Kansai Electric and shipping firm Odfjell Oceanwind are developing the five-turbine project in the Barents Sea to supply power to the town of Hammerfest in Norway. The government is backing the project following a competitive tender run by government agency Enova.

GoliatVind is due to be commissioned in 2028.
