Norway delays 1.5GW Utsira Nord tender

March 25, 2024

The Norwegian government has again delayed its 1.5GW Utsira Nord floating wind tender so it can finalise a model for use of state aid at the offshore site.

Terje Aasland, Norway’s energy minister, announced on Friday (22nd March) that the tender would be delayed until 2025 so that the government can agree a ‘common state aid model’ for floating wind areas with the European Free Trade Association’s Surveillance Authority.

He added that agreeing the state aid model before the project areas are allocated would help developers by ensuring the rules are clear.

Norway originally planned to accept bids for its Utsira Nord tender by September 2023.
