Irish renewables firm NTR has agreed to supply pharmaceuticals firm Almac Group with electricity from the 21.6MW Murley wind farm in Northern Ireland.
NTR is due to commission the six-turbine project in the second half of 2024. Almac is set to use the power to reduce carbon emissions by 95% at its headquarters campus in Craigavon in County Armagh.
Niall Harkin, executive director at Almac Group, said the deal was a “crucial step on our journey to net zero and will significantly reduce carbon emissions from the electricity we consume”.
Francisco Del Rio, associate director of power sales at NTR, added that PPAs “play a critical role in not only supporting businesses’ sustainability goals but having a wider impact on driving the clean energy transition across Northern Ireland and the rest of Europe”.
