Swedish renewables developer OX2 is partnering with Nordic paper company Stora Enso to develop 1GW of onshore wind farms in Sweden by 2030.
The partners have announced a cooperation agreement focused on developing projects in the SE3 electricity area around Sweden, which could expand to include solar and battery storage. The projects will be based on Stora Enso land and OX2 will be responsible for development.
Anders Nilsson, head of onshore wind in Sweden at OX2, said Stora Enso’s land had “good potential for wind power and together we will work to meet the needs of society and industry for additional electricity production in the near term”.
Emil Thalin, head of wind power at Stora Enso, said working with OX2 was an “important step in our endeavour to increase the amount of renewable energy on our land holdings”.
