The Scottish government has rejected Community Windpower’s 315MW Faw Side wind project in Dumfries & Galloway after objections from groups including the Ministry of Defence.
CWP applied for consent for the 45-turbine project in 2019 but it has faced a series of objections. The MoD warned that the scheme could have a negative impact on the nuclear monitoring station Eskdalemuir Seismic Array; and Historic Environment Scotland warned about Faw Side’s impact on the landscape and environment. The project has now been rejected after an inquiry.
Rod Wood, managing director at CWP, said: “We are obviously disappointed with this decision. However, we are taking time to review the reports and decision. Nonetheless, we remain committed to Scotland’s renewable energy industry, businesses and supply chains.”
