Sempra places 319MW Vestas order in Mexico

Sempra Infrastructure has ordered 64 Vestas turbines for the 319MW Cimarron wind farm in Tecate in Mexican state Baja California.

The Danish turbine maker is due to start supplying the turbines in the fourth quarter of 2024, and completion is due by the end of 2025. Cimarron is the third phase of the 582MW Energia Sierra Juarez complex.

Mehdi Hadbi, senior business director for Vestas in northern Latin America, said: “We have been able to win trust from our customers in Latin America thanks to our reliable product offering and local team with strong execution and servicing capabilities. With the signing of this new contract, we consolidate our market position in Mexico and reinforce our commitment to the development of renewable energy in the country.”
