Spanish glass maker Vidrala signs PPA with Acciona

Spanish glass maker Vidrala has signed a ten-year deal with Acciona Energia to use wind power to cover 20%-25% of its electricity needs.

The deal is due to take effect in January 2025 and Vidrala plans to use the electricity at its factories in Spanish provinces Álava, Albacete and Catalonia, as well as Marinha Grande in Portugal.

Galo Álvarez, sustainability and strategy director at Vidrala, said: “This agreement marks a significant milestone in our commitment to reduce our environmental footprint and promote sustainability in our value chain. By partnering with Acciona Energía, we reaffirm our commitment to decarbonisation and lay the foundations for sustainable growth.”
