SSE warns of delays at 1.2GW Dogger Bank A

British utility SSE has warned that commissioning at its 1.2GW Dogger Bank A project in UK waters is likely to be delayed until 2025 due to challenges with vessel availability and the supply chain.

The company warned of the delay today in its third-quarter trading statement for its 2024 financial year, which covers the three months ending 31st December 2023. It also cited “challenging weather conditions” as a reason for the delay, but said it is “not expected to materially change project returns”.

SSE said: “The business is working closely with its supply chain partners to improve current turbine installation rates.”

Dogger Bank A is the first phase of the 3.6GW Dogger Bank complex, which is being developed in a joint venture between SSE Renewables (40%), Equinor (40%) and Vårgrønn (20%)
