French oil giant TotalEnergies and Danish developer European Energy have teamed up to develop more than 405MW of offshore wind projects in the Nordics.
TotalEnergies has agreed to buy an 85% stake in the 240MW Jammerland Bugt project and a 72.2% stake in the Lillebaelt South project, both in Denmark. The developments are included in the Danish Energy Agency’s open-door offshore wind tendering process.
TotalEnergies and European Energy have also agreed to develop utility-scale offshore wind projects in Sweden and Finland.
Vincent Stoquart, senior vice president of renewables at TotalEnergies, said: “These new offshore wind projects in Denmark are aligned with our strategy of developing renewable projects in merchant countries at competitive cost. This partnership will allow TotalEnergies to take advantage of European Energy’s longstanding presence in northern Europe to expand our business there.”
Knud Erik Andersen, group chief executive at European Energy, said: “This collaboration not only strengthens our position in the renewable energy sector but also underscores our commitment to sustainable development and energy independence in Europe.”
