TotalEnergies has won backing from the Kazakhstan government for the $1.4bn 1GW Mirny onshore wind project.
The French oil giant is developing the 160-turbine project in partnership with the National Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna and the National Company KazMunayGas, each of which owns a 20% stake. The Mirny project includes a 600MWh energy storage system.
TotalEnergies signed an agreement with the Kazakhstan government to invest in the project today.
