Vestas has committed to build a second factory in Poland to produce parts for its 15MW offshore wind turbines.
The Danish manufacturer is set to produce blades for its flagship offshore wind turbine, the V236-15.0MW, at the factory from 2026. It is located in Polish seaport Szczecin, where Vestas is also building an assembly plant for offshore wind turbine nacelles.
Tommy Rahbek Nielsen, chief operating officer at Vestas, said: “Our plans for two new offshore factories in Poland underline that Europe can spur wind industry investments and green jobs with the right long-term policy commitments for offshore wind projects.”
Nils de Baar, president of Vestas Northern & Central Europe, said: “Poland has a highly skilled labour force and growing wind industry that can become an offshore hub for the Baltic Region and the rest of Europe.”
