Vineyard Offshore plans 1.2GW Vineyard Wind 2

March 27, 2024

US developer Vineyard Offshore has submitted a plan for its 1.2GW Vineyard Wind 2 project in the New England states’ up-to-6.8GW offshore wind solicitation.

The $2.3bn project would be located off the coasts of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island; and follows the 800MW Vineyard Wind 1 project that is due to be fully commissioned in the coming months. The three states are working on a combined offshore wind tender for projects with total capacity of up to 6.8GW.

Vineyard Wind 2 is scheduled to be commissioned in 2031. Vineyard Offshore is a US development partner for Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.

Alicia Barton, chief executive at Vineyard Offshore, said: “Our project will deliver more than $2 billion in economic benefits, create opportunities for workers and local businesses, and build on partnerships with local governments, organizations, and institutions across all three states, and we have the local support to show for it.”
