Over the course of three special interviews, we’ve taken a trip around the globe to analyse the status of the offshore wind sector in three key regions; North America, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Marty Pasqualini, managing director at CCA Group, joined us to discuss the opportunities for investors in the US market, including tax equity deals such as the recent $1.2bn funding for the 800MW Vineyard Wind 1, and how developers can thrive while their costs are rising.

John Eliason

In his more than 20 years of advising tax equity investors and developers, John has played a pivotal role in the advancement of the renewables and alternative energy market. He continues to provide leadership in this ever-changing sector by guiding clients on the implications of the IRA, helping them navigate new rules in order to maximize federal and state tax benefits.
John advises major financial institutions (tax equity investors and infrastructure funds), lenders, developers, and sponsors, particularly those in the wind, solar, storage, biomass and energy tech space. He helps clients structure financings for their projects to take advantage of federal and state tax incentives, like the Federal production tax credit (PTC), energy investment tax credit (ITC) and accelerated depreciation (MACRS and “bonus”) using partnership flips, sale-leasebacks, public/private partnerships, and other structuring options. He has been particularly focused on providing clients with the latest guidance and opportunities relating to the Inflation Reduction Act, including with respect to Section 6418 tax credit transfers and Section 6417 direct pay opportunities.

Martin J. Pasqualini, Managing Director, Partner, and Founding Member, represents strategic and financial sponsors as well as capital providers in connection with the financing, acquisition, and disposition of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. As a partner and lead facilitator of wind and solar transactions at CCA Group, he firmly believes in renewable energy and the expansion of clean energy infrastructure. Over the past 33 years, including preceding roles as a project finance attorney and investment banker, he has developed both a great wealth of expertise as well as an unparalleled network of industry relationships that enable him to deliver efficient, customized solutions to his clients. He was ranked the 80th Most Influential Person in North American Wind in the 2021 North American Power List by A Word About Wind.

Prior to joining CCA Group, Marty was a Managing Director in the Tax Products Group at BTM Capital Corporation and was also formerly a partner in the Project and Structured Finance Group of Bingham Dana LLP. He is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Joslin Diabetes Center. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Granite Source Power.

Marty earned his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Boston College and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Boston College Law School.

Marty holds Series 7, SIE, 24, 63, and 79 licenses.
