Wind developers face a hazardous ultimatum in the global push for green energy. In 2020 the worldwide installed capacity hit 651GW, which is predicted to rise to 1787GW within a decade. As more turbines are installed across the globe, the amount of fire hazards is expected to increase substantially.

The ever-decreasing cost of wind projects encourages developers to increase turbine efficiency while keeping development costs low enough to attract investment. Further, there is little to no regulation regarding fire safety for wind turbines which has put project operators at greater risk of catastrophic fires, as well as higher insurance premiums if those risks aren’t actively managed.
